We are seeking a Health Data Analyst to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. The DHA Pharmacy Analytics Support Section provides analytic support to all parties associated with the process of dispensing outpatient prescriptions to DoD beneficiaries. We deliver information and analytic products and tools to the Pharmacy Operations Division, military pharmacies, a contracted PBM, and the pharmaceutical industry in support of clinical initiatives, policy development, metric development, performance monitoring, and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The senior data analyst will prepare responses to requests for information to support pharmacy program management, policy development, metrics and performance management, clinical studies, and health care delivery, both individually and by coordinating the work of others. Specifically, the successful candidate will:

  • Use pharmacy, beneficiary, and various health care data, relevant references, and analytic tools to assemble, prepare, and analyze information in support of clinical, policy, and business decision making.
  • Prepare and deliver products and presentations to colleagues, subordinates, government representatives, clinicians, and others as needed.
  • Interact with pharmacy SMEs and teammates to develop solutions to difficult or complex questions. Support the development of reusable tools as well as preparation of quick turnaround responses to one-time questions.
  • Contribute to team development through process improvement, knowledge sharing, and quality reviews. Identify and influence systemic changes to improve team performance, organization effectiveness, quality and services.
  • Identify gaps in processes or organization and challenges self and others to develop and implement solutions.

 

Work Experience:

  • 6+ years’ experience using Business Objects, SAS, and MS Excel to extract and analyze data in response to health care questions.
  • Experience working with pharmacy data.
  • Experience with MDR and M2.

 Job Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to translate clinical and business questions into data requests and to translate data into actionable information
  • Proficient in MS Office products, including MS Access
  • Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with attention to changing priorities
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Familiarity with handling of PHI, PII and other sensitive information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to obtain IT-2 Position of Trust

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Informatics, Health IT, Analytics, or related technical field. Experience may be substituted for degree.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • None 

Communication Skills:

  • Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.

Travel:

  • Willing to travel occasionally as needed (up to 10%)

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours
